So...my new book, The Non-Runner's Marathon Guide for Women, told me to start a blog. And since this author, Dawn Dais, a non-runner like myself, successfully completed (no time given) a marathon, I'm pretty much doing EVERY single thing she says to do, including buying a "water-holder butt thingy." That will come later. But for now, here's my story:
My name is Nicole Staker. I currently live in Anchorage, Alaska, and teach fourth grade. I've always been slender (although never fit/tone). I used to be able to eat an entire pizza without gaining an ounce. Then I got married and started being able to out-eat my husband (scary). Shortly after, my pants began shrinking, certainly from being washed and dried one too many times. Long story short, my husband and I finally got gym passes. At the age of 24, I officially became active.
I'm now 26 and back down to my college weight (before the freshman 15). The magic secret...well, I signed up for this pill online...BULL! It took HARD work! For almost a year now, I've been hitting the gym regularly. The past few months have been almost obsessively. But, I'm now in the best shape of my life; not according to the scale, but according to the fact that my pants fit nicely again, and I actually have muscles that I never knew I had before.
Before I started working out, I hated running. Once I learned that it was the best way for me to get into shape, it started growing on me. Then, I became addicted. Before I knew it, my husband signed us up for a half marathon. And the rest is self-explanatory...
Quote of the day: "I can; I will; I am able" (or something like that)
